Shennawy Pasha Palace

The Islamic and Coptic Antiquities Administration of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced the resumption of the archaeological restoration of the Shennawy Palace in Mansoura. This is part of the Ministry's plan to develop archaeological sites. It is worth mentioning that the Shennawy Palace was built by Ibrahim Pasha Shennawy in 1928, located on Canal Street in Mansoura, near the governorate's headquarters. At that time, the palace was surrounded on both sides by Nile water channels known as "the small sea." It is distinguished by a unique façade belonging to the Baroque and Rococo styles.

Constructed in 1925, this palace was listed with the Ministry of Antiquities as an Islamic monument. The palace was turned over to the state following the July Revolution in 1952. In the 1960s and 1970s, it housed the Headquarters of the Dakahlia Security Directorate. Today, the Ministry of Interior uses it to oversee certain operations. During the protest clashes that broke out in 2012 and 2013, it also saw numerous attempts at arson and stone-throwing at its windows.
