Professor Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, has inaugurated a new reading area in the library's outdoor plaza, named the "Inspiring Reading Corner." This initiative represents an innovative artistic approach from the library sector, featuring a collection of sofas that blend modern design with cultural symbolism. Each sofa is styled as an open book and showcases an influential figure from various fields, including science, literature, art, and sports in the Arab world.

The collection highlights notable figures such as renowned heart surgeon Magdi Yacoub, Egyptian scientist Ahmed Zewail, esteemed literary figure Taha Hussein, archaeologist Mustafa El-Abadi, atomic scientist Samira Moussa, celebrated artist Sayed Darwish, iconic singer Umm Kulthum, and sports star Mohamed Salah.
Currently, the sofas are displayed in the outdoor plaza of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which overlooks the sea. The library plans to relocate them indoors to the main reading halls on different floors during inclement weather to ensure the comfort of visitors.
