In its sixth stop, Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, traveled to Tokyo, Japan, to inspect the Crevia Bas exhibition hall, which will host the "Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs" exhibition. The exhibition ended in Cologne, Germany, early this January and is set to open in March 2025.
The purpose of this visit was to assess the exhibition's final preparations and the exhibition hall's level of preparedness for hosting it, including showcases, lighting, security, and protection systems, among other things. This would ensure that all necessary safety and security measures are put in place and that the exhibition is presented in the best possible way.
Nearly 200 representatives of significant Japanese newspapers, journals, and media outlets attended a press conference conducted on the sidelines of the visit to announce the last preparations for the exhibition's launch. The mayor of Tokyo, Ms. Yuriko Koike, also attended the conference. She expressed her satisfaction that Japan is hosting this significant exhibition, which the Japanese people are eagerly awaiting due to their intense interest in and enthusiasm for ancient Egyptian culture. She also expressed her hope that the exhibition will draw a large number of visitors from different Japanese cities.
Stressing the importance of foreign archaeological exhibitions in promoting Egypt as a travel destination, particularly for those who enjoy cultural tourism, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities reviewed the role of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the Supreme Council of Antiquities, in conserving Egypt's history, heritage, and civilization through archaeological excavations as well as restoration and maintenance work for Egyptian archaeological sites during the press conference.
The "Top of the Pyramid - Ancient Egyptian Civilization" exhibition at the Shanghai Museum in China, which has drawn approximately 1.3 million visitors so far, and the "And What is in Between" exhibition in Saudi Arabia were among the Egyptian archaeological exhibitions he reviewed in his speech. He also mentioned that Italy is set to host one of the temporary archaeological exhibitions in the middle of this year.
